SUMMARY:Complex Need - Open Forum Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Join Just Say\, Barking & Dagenham’s Parent Carer Forum\, for our Complex Needs Open Meeting! A friendly space for parent carers of children and young people with SEND to come together\, share experiences and have their voices heard \n\n\nWe want to understand what “complex needs” means to you and your family\, what do you feel defines “complex” and how having a child or young person with complex needs affects everyday life. \nWe will also have Rachel Horner in attendance from Barking and Dagenham to update families on local Short Breaks information. \nWHAT TO EXPECT: This will be an informal and welcoming meeting where you can: \n• Share your family’s experiences of education\, health and social care \n• Talk about what support your child and family need \n• Tell us what is working well and what needs to change \n• Help identify the issues that matter most to local families \n• Contribute to the evidence and feedback Just Say takes into its work with the Barking & Dagenham SEND Partnership and use your family’s experience to share local services \nYou don’t need to prepare anything and you don’t have to speak in front of the group. You are welcome to listen\, join in as much or as little as you feel comfortable with\, or speak to us individually. \nJust Say is the Parent Carer Forum for Barking & Dagenham. We work with education\, health and social care partners so that parent carers’ experiences and views can help influence and shape local SEND services. \nAll SEND families are welcome. Lunch will be provided and attendance is free. \nPlease book your free place through Eventbrite so we know how many families to expect. DESCRIPTION:Join Just Say Parent Carer Forum for a SEND parent carer meeting with Barking MP Nesil Caliskan. \n\n\nThis is an opportunity for parent carers in Barking & Dagenham to speak directly with our MP about the issues affecting children and young people with SEND and their families. \nWe want parents’ lived experiences to be at the heart of the discussion. Topics are expected to include EHCP delays and accountability\, access to suitable school placements and specialist provision\, SEND support in mainstream schools\, attendance and EBSA\, exclusions\, access to health and therapy services\, SEND transport\, and concerns about proposed national SEND and education reforms. \nThere will also be an opportunity to raise other SEND-related issues that you feel need greater attention locally or nationally. \nThe purpose of the meeting is not only to discuss individual experiences\, but to identify the common themes affecting Barking & Dagenham families and ensure these concerns are heard by our MP and can inform the issues she raises and takes forward. \nFriday 2 October 2026 \n12:30pm–2:00pm \nAt John Smith House\, Bevan Avenue\, Barking\, IG11 9LL \nSpaces are limited\, so booking is essential. \nRefreshments will be provided.
